About HAN KJØBENHAVN
AND TIMELESS CLASSICS.
Han Kjøbenhavn is founded in Copenhagen in 2008. “Han” is Danish for “he” and “Kjøbenhavn” is they way Copenhagen was spelled in Denmark in former times. In a way their name captures the essence of their classic aspect of their design process.
Designers Jannik Wikkelsø Davidsen and Tim Faith Hancock have been building quite a gathering since the start of their unique brand of timeless vintage workwear. The Danish culture has always been a part of the identity of Han Kjøbenhavn. Han doesn’t like trends, but it likes to follow classic design principles.
This means functionalistic design, combined with ideas of simplicity.
Their products are a mix innovation and classic craftsmanship with great sense of detail. Using Imperfection, flaws and vulnerability as a contrast to the clean scandinavian mentality, that’s what Han Kjøbenhavn is all about.
Their inspiration comes from the 50’s Japanese and American work culture. We do say inspired since we think they do not limit themselves to any Japanese, American or other culture as inspiration. Han is able to still be original in a area of the fashion world that is more or less saturated and explored.
When we came across a few of Han Kjøbenhavn frames for the first time, we knew we had to take a closer look one day. Besides our enthusiasm for Han’s timeless high quality frames we really enjoy Han’s feeling. Their short films – have a look on their vimeo account – are extraordinary. It is an intriguing cinematic way to introduce collections. We believe Tim and Jannik are trendsetters and more brands will follow in this unique approach of revealing products.
Han Kjøbenhavn is a brand for those looking for heritage and timeless classics.
